Medical and Health Qigong are overlapping practices that combine the three adjustments, regulations of breath, body, mind/spirit in unity attained through practice. Medical Qigong is applied to improve individual care and treatment of health disorders, while Health Qigong is often performed as a group practice, to maintain health and wellness and does not require a diagnosis to benefit participants.
The two practices of Qigong benefit the practitioner’s health, as well as that of their patients. Qigong practices enhance Qi (vital force or life force), and its “flow” or movement, facilitating healing, decreasing pain and improving immune function. In addition to the mind, breath and physical practice of Qigong, medical devices and “needleless acupuncture” tools, which impart Qigong benefits (without the daily commitment of hours of practice) will be discussed.
