Dogs with recurrent back pain, or intermittent lameness, and an inability to perform are often found to have radiographic evidence of lumbosacral disease and mild hip dysplasia. Some cases may also present signs of stifle lameness. By exploring the fascial connections and utilizing myofascial meridians, Dr Laura Lee has developed a veterinary integrative fascial therapy (VIFT) approach that has shown significant success. This method not only resolves symptoms but also better supports long-term resolution of symptoms, enabling dogs to return to peak athletic performance and maintain an active lifestyle well into old age.
Dr Lee will share case studies from her practice to illustrate the impact of VIFT in addressing lumbosacral hyperextension and the interconnected nature of lumbosacral disease, hip dysplasia, and stifle lameness. She will also discuss strategies for preventative care in young, active dogs, including exercise recommendations to reduce the risk of developing these issues.
This is the first in a series of six presentations detailing the use of veterinary integrative fascial therapy (VIFT) to treat a range of conditions.
