This webinar will examine what constitutes validity in research, types of validity, types of research, definition of Evidence Based Medicine, and a proposal for a more relevant Levels of Evidence Research Pyramid. You will be able to explain the difference between internal and external validity and how different types of research can be strong in one but maybe not the other. You will also be able to define and understand the practice of Evidence Based Medicine as including not just the best research in making decisions, but also involving clinical expertise of the doctor and consideration of the patient’s values and preferences. You will also be able to critically evaluate various types of research on acupuncture for quality and relevance in proof of effectiveness and efficacy.
