Dr Joseph Demers graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. He began his professional life on the east coast of  Florida where he could enjoy his passion of surfing. Hestarted working ata mixed practice, then he open his own small animal medicine practice. In the late 1980s he became interested in alternative medicine and in 1992 became certified in veterinary acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). After that, he completed a three-year IVAS course in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine. To round out his alternative medicine education, he became a Certified Veterinary Homeopath by the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy and became a Homeopathic Master Clinician in human homeopathy by completing a two-year certification course. Joseph is the Past-President of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association and Past-President of the Florida Homeopathic Medical Society.

He has lectured both nationally and internationally on many aspects of Integrative Veterinary Medicine from Chinese veterinary medicine, veterinary and human homeopathy, homotoxicology and bioregulatory medicine. He really enjoys the integration of homeopathy and acupuncture with the homotoxicology injection therapy which can be a very powerful alternative therapy for many medical conditions. He feels that an integrative alternative medical approach of treating patients with nutritional supplements for supporting the sick terrain, herbal medicine for symptom reduction and homotoxicology injection and oral therapy for addressing the energetic disharmony and immune support is truly a “holistic approach to healing”
