Friends of CIVT Membership

$55.00 USD

The 'Friends of CIVT' group is open to pet guardians and pet carers.

CIVT is committed to making quality natural medicine for animals widely available, by encouraging the integration of complementary and alternative veterinary medicine into mainstream animal health care. CIVT is involved in training practitioners and educators and raising the profile of evidence-based natural medicine.

If you are inspired by our vision and work, you can make a difference by:

  • joining the 'Friends of CIVT' group and finding out more about natural animal health care for your own animals
  • talking to veterinarians and other health care professionals about your desire to see natural veterinary medicine practiced more widely
  • sharing our vision with others around you, and, keeping yourself informed by regularly visiting the CIVT website.

As a 'Friend of CIVT,' you can learn more about evidence-based natural therapies to improve the health of your animals. We want to empower you to work with your veterinarian to integrate the best of mainstream medicine with natural health care.

This includes access to the American Botanical Council Library (normally $50USD to join).

Tell your Vet

There is a growing need for people to be able to access reliable advice and natural medicine options within mainstream veterinary medicine. Of the veterinarians who have studied with us, we often hear that it was a client that asked questions about natural options that triggered them to contact us.

If you feel strongly that your veterinarian is open and willing to consider finding out more, we encourage you to give them the CIVT website link. Some veterinarians are happy to refer and you could also suggest they support a veterinary nurse or veterinary technician to undertake training.

CIVT’s Journal (JIVT)

The Journal of Integrative Veterinary Therapies (JIVT) is the first international veterinary publication addressing evidence based natural medicine for animals.

This modern, clinically relevant journal is issued twice a year. JIVT publishes material on all aspects of integrative veterinary therapies including case reports, research articles, research updates, book reviews, commentary and other relevant information. Copies are available to the entire Membership and Friends of CIVT, with limited sample copies available for those interested in finding out more and joining the College.

Download a sample of the Journal of Integrative Veterinary Therapies for free, and read a fascinating excerpt from Dr Steve Marsden's book 'Essential Guide to Chinese Herbal Formulas - Bridging Science and Tradition in Integrative Veterinary Medicine', a great article 'Approaching disease globally by addressing ‘leaky gut syndrome' by Dr Alexia Tsakiris, plus interesting case reports and monographs.
