'Diagnosing and Treating Enthesial Strain with Dextrose Prolotherapy in Dogs and Horses' Three-Part Webinar Series Presented by Dr Ian Bidstrup

About the Webinar

Join Dr Ian Bidstrup for this instructional three-part webinar series exploring the often overlooked role of enthesial strain in musculoskeletal dysfunction, and how to effectively treat it using dextrose prolotherapy, a regenerative injection technique.

Fascia, ligaments, tendons, and joint capsules are all key forms of connective tissue. Where these tissues anchor to bone is known as the enthesis, a crucial but under-recognized structure in the diagnosis and treatment of pain and biomechanical dysfunction. Enthesial injury is increasingly recognised as a common contributor to musculoskeletal pain, altered posture, and soft tissue tension imbalances.

Dr Bidstrup utilises prolotherapy as an effective and affordable alternative for treating sacroiliac disease, kissing spines, and cervical pain in dogs and horses, as well as cruciate disease, hip dysplasia, wobblers disease, and elbow dysplasia in dogs.

This comprehensive series will cover:

Part 1:

  • Understanding and diagnosing enthesial strain and its importance as a pain generator in the musculoskeletal system
  •  Discussing the options for treating enthesial strain including dextrose prolotherapy
  • Exploring the science behind dextrose prolotherapy, the many nuances of its application and setting you up to start doing dextrose prolotherapy

Part 2:

Application of prolotherapy including:

  • Cruciate disease and hip dysplasia in the dog
  • Sacroiliac coupling strain in horses and dogs
  • Pain generating strain of the muscle attachments of the pelvic bones of the horse and dog.

Part 3:

Application of prolotherapy including:

  • Pain and dysfunction of the lower neck, poll region and TMJ of horses and dogs, and wobblers disease in dogs
  • Kissing spines
  • Shoulder strain
  • Elbow dysplasia of dogs

Dr Bidstrup will also introduce gold beading of enthesial strain points, which closely correspond to commonly used acupuncture points for the joints.

By the end of this webinar series, registrants will be able to identify and treat enthesial strain, and apply these insights to manage complex cases involving chronic pain, postural abnormalities, and joint instability in both dogs and horses. Preventative strategies to support long-term biomechanical health will also be discussed.

Feedback from a registrant

“I attended the first webinar in Dr Ian Bidstrup’s Prolotherapy series, it was fabulous! The presentation was insightful and inspiring. His depth of knowledge, clear explanation and practical discussion encourages me to broaden my approach in this area. Thank you to Dr Bidstrup and CIVT for delivering such a valuable and engaging learning experience!”
