Balance method acupuncture is a school of acupuncture based on the I Ching or Book of Changes. The I Ching is a sacred book in Chinese culture and has been studied extensively due to mathematical interpretations and numerology implications. The I Ching is an attempt to decipher the universe by ancient scholars. It defines the concept of Yin and Yang as two energies that mutually create and oppose each other. The Yin is represented by an interrupted line and the Yang by a whole line. The different combinations of these lines create 64 hexagrams and each has a meaning. The first documented use of the I Ching relating to acupuncture was by King Fu Xi nearly 5,000 years ago.
The resulting practical knowledge is that each Meridian has a hexagram identifying it. The main pillars of Balance methods acupuncture are Meridian pain clearance and Global balance. This actual school of thought was pioneered by a human acupuncturist with aeronautical engineering knowledge: Dr Richard Tan. The contents of this talk are based on knowledge acquired from the certification course in Balance Acupuncture from his pupil D. A. Alfaro at Chi University Latin America in Costa Rica.
