Getting started with essential oils in veterinary practice can be daunting. This webinar will explain the origin, chemistry, production, and safety of both essential oils and hydrosols. Comparisons will be made between essential oils and pharmacological medications, homeopathic remedies, and both Western and traditional Chinese herbal medicines. The discussion will include how to incorporate essential oils into practice and provide suggestions for a starter kit of basic essential oils for those that wish to begin using oils in their practices. Clinical cases will be presented that include treatment with essential oils so that attendees can appreciate the benefits of using them in clinical veterinary practice.
