Acute conditions such as high fever, syncope, shock, acute pain, haemorrhage, and food poisoning often require emergency treatment and intensive care. TCVM, especially acupuncture, can often be an effective adjuvant therapy to control emergency situations.

In Western veterinary medicine numerous excellent therapeutic methods have been developed for patients presenting with these acute complex systemic disorders. Chinese Herbal Medicine, Food Therapy and Tui-Na may then be useful to further support the patient for maximum healing and recovery.
