Originally from Te Whanganui a' Tara- Wellington, New Zealand, Sharlene completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture from the New Zealand School of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine. She spent over 10 years specializing in Women’s Health, Fertility, and Pregnancy at 'Fertility Associates' and in private practice. In 2017, she transitioned her lifelong passion for holistic animal care into a career, becoming a Veterinary Technician and completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Acupuncture through CIVT in 2019. During this time, she launched 4 Paws Acupuncture, providing mobile in-home services. Her expertise includes Canine rehabilitation, Western and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Sharlene now teaches Canine TuiNa Rehabilitation online and in person to help owners actively engage in their dogs' wellbeing & for those wanting to add another modality to their Canine based Practice. With nearly 20 years of experience and numerous trips to China, she is passionate about the positive impact Chinese medicine has on Veterinary Medicine and the importance of client education.

The CIVT team wishes all of our students, members and subscribers a safe and happy festive season. We're taking a short break - the CIVT office will close on Friday 19th December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 5th January 2026.
