Urinary Tract problems can constitute a challenge because they often have an underlying deficiency and the problems presented are only the tip of the iceberg. Conventional treatment plans are limited and recurrent problems are not uncommon. The use of herbal medicine is a rather safe and efficient way to address these dilemmas. Because plants have more than one compound they act on different levels and address the problem in more than one way. They are often used as a last resort for recurrent infections, however, it would make sense to think of them as being the first step. Characterization of western herbs according to TCM aspects help to choose the correct and most efficient herbs. Additionally using more than one herb is common practice in Chinese medicine and could also be applied when choosing a western herbal recipe.
