The general feeling among allopathic veterinarians about raw food feeding is that there are risks to pets from pathogen contamination and nutritional inadequacy. An increasing number of commercial raw pet food companies are using a variety of different measures to ensure safety. This webinar will cover the range of safety procedures that can be used by raw pet food manufacturers and will provide the attendee with a list of questions that veterinarians and pet owners should ask when considering the merits of a particular company. The questions are based on WSAVA nutritional guidelines and have been modified by Dr Wynn in order for them to be applied to any size of food manufacturer. The questions involve the formulation, testing, production, quality control procedures, and academic research employed by the raw pet food manufacturer. Attendees will take away knowledge of the safety practices available and what questions to ask of producers to assess quality.
