Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disorder in our elderly canine patients. It is a painful and debilitating condition that impacts significantly on their quality of life. Traditional management of canine osteoarthritis relies heavily on anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications. This presentation aims to take an evidence-based, case-based approach to osteoarthritis management with the goals of decreasing inflammation, delaying disease progression and improving quality of life. Multiple modalities will be discussed including natural nutrition and weight management, nutraceuticals, herbal interventions, acupuncture, physical therapies and environmental modification.
