Cancer in our veterinary patients is a common occurrence. Our conventional approaches are aimed at destroying and removing cancerous cells from the body which may have risks and side effects that need consideration and management.
When we approach health holistically, we examine and address the deeper-seated cause of “dis-ease”. This means questioning and addressing why the dis-ease has developed and why the immune system hasn’t contained the dis-ease and it has been allowed to progress.
The integrative veterinarian juggles perspectives from both points of view and marries together a treatment plan that addresses the needs of their patient and their owner or guardian, which may need to take into consideration financial and care constraints as well. Although challenging, this can be a very rewarding process.
