Inquiring minds want to know…What exactly is the human-animal bond and how does it apply to veterinary medicine? Why does the integrative model excel at strengthening this bond and building client relationships? How can we draw from the human animal bond and human to human connections in order to create practices that are more stable and sustainable? These are the topics we will evaluate, discuss and develop into an action plan around enhancing the patient, client and practitioner experience. The integrative model is a holistic approach that should elevate patient and client care along with overall job satisfaction for the veterinarian and the veterinary team. The key contributing factors are more successful case outcomes, heightened listening skills with attention to details, development of pleasant routine visits, increased “face time” with clients and reduced time stress. These factors strengthen the bonds of the veterinary triad: the patient, client, and animal health care team. The deeper connections facilitated through integrative medicine lead to a more enjoyable experience, greater client retention and improved overall sustainability.
